THE LOVE STORY

Some say love finds you when you least expect it. For us, it started with a bar, a little persistence, and a whole lot of chance.

It was 2016, and Erika (my sister) was invited to meet her now-husband Michael at The Warren, a bar in the city. We almost stayed in that night, but thanks to my expert persuasion skills, we went anyway—and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Enter Micah. The moment I met him, I thought, Wow, he’s handsome. But then he told me he was 33, and I didn’t believe him for a second. He looked way too young, so naturally, I made him show me his ID. Math was never my strong suit (especially after a drink or two), but I knew 1983 was a far cry from my birth year, 1991. Still, we hit it off right away… until I stepped away for a moment and came back to find him chatting with another girl. Ouch.

To be fair, we’d just met, so it wasn’t like he owed me anything—but I’ll admit I was a little bummed. I figured that was the last I’d ever see of him. Life went on, and every now and then I’d think about “that guy from The Warren.” But at 24, I wasn’t looking for anything serious, so I let the thought go.

Fast forward a few months. Erika convinced me to go out again, this time to meet up with Michael and “a friend.” Little did I know that “friend” was none other than Micah. When we arrived at Ormsby’s (a game bar), I already had an exit plan to meet other friends later—just in case this meetup wasn’t my vibe.

We ordered drinks while waiting for Michael and his friend. I grabbed a Bell’s Two Hearted Ale, a beer I thought no one else would order. Then, in walks Micah… holding the exact same beer. Coincidence? Fate? Either way, I was intrigued.

That night, something clicked. As we played pool and talked, I realized I didn’t want to leave—or meet up with my other friends. The hours flew by, and from that moment on, everything started to fall into place.

Now, we can’t help but smile and laugh when we think about how easily our paths could have missed each other. It’s funny how life works sometimes, bringing the right person into your life when you least expect it.

Here we are, 8 years later, writing this story together—and we couldn’t be happier that fate (and a little liquid courage) brought us to this moment. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you by our sides this May, in Atlanta!
